Fun fact: This image is from Tim’s collaborative Easter project for Midtown in 2021 titled Moveable Garden.
WORKSHOP IS FULL. There will be more workshop opportunities later this year.
In this workshop, Tim Robertson will help us create and print a collaborative zine using his risograph, which is essentially an old, large office printer that creates prints similarly to screenprinting. Each participant will create one page of the book around the theme of maps through drawing, collage, writing, etc. that will then be scanned on the risograph, printed on colorful paper, and bound together. Participants will take home a few copies of the finished zine. Drawing and collaging supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring your own images and supplies as well.
We will meet on Saturday, March 14th from 10am-12pm at Misc. Goods Co. (1133 S. Shelby St.), just a block down from the church. Street parking is limited so please consider parking in the church parking lot and walking over if able to.
The cost is $10, which includes cost of supplies, printing, and compensation. When you register, you will submit payment for the class. Registration is closed.
About the theme: We use maps to know where we are, where we've been, where we're going. They show us the shape of the land, where treasure is buried and the location of the next gas station. Some maps exist only in our heads and some of the best journeys happen without them.
We'll make an atlas of sorts with each of us free to interpret the theme. Trace the landmarks of your favorite place, describe the way to something you buried, draw a map of your sock drawer or of your mind.
