Listening Party & Discussion: The Velvet Underground & Nico

Sojourn Arts Reading Group will meet on Tuesday, August 21st at 7PM at 504 E. Oak St. for a listening party and discussion of The Velvet Underground's The Velvet Underground & Nico, led by Payton Harris.

"The Velvet Underground and Nico is one of the most influential albums of all time. Its independent, subversive attitude paved the way for rock music as we know it today, and it still remains one of its most powerful works. Alienation, unmet desires, and anxiety of city-life is released through droning piano, sharp viola tones, and stuttering guitar solos with harsh feedback. Through fatalism, nihilism and deviance, they found bliss. Do we find bliss in the same places? How do we cope with feelings of alienation, degradation, and pessimism?" - Payton
